We have wide experience in dealing with residential property of almost all types and ages, from medieval buildings to brand new houses. Our knowledge of construction and valuation enables us to provide comprehensive advice.

Historic buildings are widespread in our area and include most of the traditional types of construction found in Britain. We have built up a particular expertise in older buildings, which we enjoy inspecting and advising on, including those with walls of stone, brick, timber framing or earth and roofs of thatch, stone slate, metamorphic slate, clay tiles or shingles.

The work we undertake in respect of residential property includes:

• Building Surveys

  - detailed inspections, usually for prospective purchasers - a flexible form of survey which can be applied to dwellings of all types.

• Home Buyers Surveys and Valuations

  - suitable for many of the residential properties built within the past 100 years or so - our own, in-house, economical alternative to the building survey.

• Brief Reports

  - inspections similar to those made for building surveys and home buyers reports but with each written report stripped down to the bare essentials.

• Specific Defect Surveys

  - investigation and diagnosis of individual building problems and advice on remedial works required.

• Valuations

  - prepared for various purposes including purchase, sale, transfer, taxation and insurance.
